Every year, Skytrax releases its global airline rankings, and every year the travel world pays attention. Here's what the rankings actually measure and what they mean for passengers.

The Skytrax World Airline Awards are widely considered the most authoritative rankings in commercial aviation, based on customer survey data from millions of passengers across 100+ nationalities.

Top Airlines Dominating the Rankings

Qatar Airways has claimed the number one spot multiple times. Its QSuites business class product is widely regarded as the best in the industry.

Singapore Airlines is the perennial rival. Its legendary service training and consistently high standards in every cabin make it one of the most respected carriers on earth.

ANA (All Nippon Airways) from Japan regularly appears in the top five. Japanese service culture is reflected directly in the cabin — meticulous attention to detail and profound courtesy.

Emirates competes with its massive A380 fleet, onboard showers in first class, and a service experience that has set benchmarks since the 1990s.

The 5-Star Rating System

Skytrax awards a 1–5 star quality rating to airlines globally. Only a handful hold the 5-star designation: Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, ANA, Cathay Pacific, EVA Air, Hainan Airlines, and Starlux Airlines.
